Notes:: Just a little (very little) ficlet for School Hard Weekend! Barbverse, but could just as well be canon-compliant.

It would have been ego-boosting to think that she had a clue about Spike from the very beginning. Or that he'd had a clue about her. That there was some stirring of destiny in their hearts from the first moment their eyes met, some sense that their lives had undergone a seismic upheaval, and would never again be the same. But she was destiny-free in those post-Pergamum Codex days, and Spike admits that the only stirring he felt was in his pants. She's pretty sure she felt a passing twinge of regret for the hotness (in a sallow way) wasted on a homicidal maniac, which, OK, maybe a mutual lust connection, if nothing else? But Spike wasn't even her type (teen Buffy liked 'em tall, dark, and brooding) and her mind and her heart were full of Angel, and Spike was all truly madly deeply with Dru, so, passing twinge only.

Fact was, neither of them saw the other coming. And these days, Buffy thinks that's probably a good thing. Death was all destiny had in store for either of them. Love, they've made for themselves.

This story is set during the summer between seasons 5 and 6. It refers briefly to both School Hard and Lovers Walk, but sets them in the retconned universe where Dawn was born into the Summers family.

Yay, early Seasonal Spuffy kick-off! And what do you know, the next glimpses already lying around on my computer are School Hard ones :)

As these are just glimpses into their heads (and hearts) throughout the series, you really don't need to read the first chapters posted here in May. Again unbetaed due to spontaneity.
Also, I have no idea how to hide something under a cut on DW. It's short enough that I hope it's okay to post without cut.

Summary: Glimpses into the story of a Slayer and a Vampire. A series of drabbles along the series, each of which can be read as stand-alone; sometimes two build a unit, as is the case here

So that’s her. The newest her.
She’s remarkable.
How she moves! There’s power behind that swing of her hips.
She’s different from the others, more intense, somehow. And how her little pals flutter around her, basking in her light. That’s new, a slayer with friends.
She’s glowing. He can feel her brightness like her power seeping into him, even far away, there in the dark. And how her skin glistens, just like her eyes.
She’s beautiful. He really wants to dance with her.
Soon she’ll be his.
He wonders if he’ll feel the fire in her when he touches her.

She knows it from the moment he steps out of the shadow, applauding her for her fight - this vampire is dangerous.
He emanates energy like none of the others ever have. He seems more alive than some humans she knows, and isn’t that just weird?
Somehow she can’t lift her eyes from him, it’s like they are the needle to his north pole. And suddenly she’s aware that the hairs at the nape of her neck are standing up and her stomach does a strange flippy thing.
She’s not scared of him, though.
Maybe that’s why he’s so dangerous.

Hi! I have never posted to this community before, though I've enjoyed many of the contributions from others over the years. These days, I mostly sit quietly on the sidelines of the Buffy fandom, but I still love the show and the characters dearly, and seeing that it was the twentieth anniversary of School Hard made me remember a little something I posted a decade ago (hahahaha I am old) to a Livejournal community called

adecadeofspike. When I reread it, I didn't totally hate it, so I thought it might be fun to join in the celebration by reposting it here. Thank you so much to the organizers and contributors of this community for keeping it alive and thriving!

Is that skeevy guy looking at me? Guess he thinks he’s hot stuff, all leather and bleached hair. *shudder* Soooo not my type! I like ‘em tall, handsome and clean-cut, not short, sexy and creepy.

Okay, he did NOT just lick his lips while he was looking at me. It’s a good thing for him I don’t hit humans or he’d be—

Dancing with me. He’s dancing with me. And laughing at me. Son of a bitch thinks he’s funny. Can somebody laugh and be creepy at the same time? Oh, he’s had it now. I can feel vamp vibes, familiar vamp vibes. Just wait till Angel—

Guh. No Angel. And the guy is moving closer. All right, smart ass. Let’s see how you handle a Buffy summers ‘I can make you spontaneously combust just by smiling’ special. Uh huh. Thought so. Not laughing now, are you, bad boy? Uh huh. And now I’m just dancing away. You can watch my butt if you want to – it’s leaving.

Didn’t take long to spot this slayer. Normal girls can’t move like that. Caught me looking, didn’t she? Hasn’t figured out what I am yet. Probably not her type – little cheerleader looking thing like her. I’m a little too... real... for her taste, I’ll wager. Let’s see how good she is at spotting a vamp – kinda odd that she hasn’t sensed me yet – keeps looking around, but more like she’s expecting somebody—

Cute. She can blush at the same time she’s tryin’ to stare me down. This one has flair. Wonder what she’d be like to dance with? Think I’ll give it a shot. Doubt she’ll stake me in here even if she does figure it out. Bloody hell! What a shame this one has to die. I’d almost... how does a little goody two shoes like her know how to turn a man to jelly with a smile.

Okay, pet. You just dance yourself away. We’ll meet again. You can count on it.

I haven’t had time to make anything brand new, so I’ve shamelessly reused one of my old Noel of Spike icons from a couple of years ago. Here are three new(ish) icons, plus a banner.

Not something I could miss - the beginning of it all for the Spuffy-inclined amongst us. In honour of the occasion this fic is new. Also posted on LJ.

Juliet Mills, daughter of Sir John, sister of Hayley, was in the film Avanti! in 1972, for which she was nominated for a Golden Globe Award. She later went on to play the role of Tabitha in Passions. Spike couldn't have watched the soap in 1997, as it started in 1999, but I liked the idea of a little shout-out.

All belongs to Joss, but he did say we could play with his toys.
Rating - R for language (It's Spike), but otherwise PG13.

Hello, friends of Spuffy! By popular demand, Round 23 of Seasonal Spuffy will take place in November. The exact dates will be specified, and signups will open in October.

BUT IN THE MEANTIME, we declare September 29-30 and October 1 to be special, themed free-for-all days!

This weekend event will begin on Friday, because, like Spike, we just can't wait... to celebrate the 20th anniversary of School Hard, first aired on September 29, 1997!

This time, we invite you to post anything you've got that's directly related to School Hard. New works are great. Previously posted works are good, too! As usual, we'll be delighted to have, in the words of Tom Lehrer, all your "murals, postcards, neckties, samplers, stained-glass windows, tattoos, anything!" We also accept fic, all kinds of fan art, recs, meta... go wild. :) Just remember it should be School-Hard-related and Spuffy. And it shouldn't be an all-human AU... though all-penguin AUs are welcomed. The rest of the standard guidelines are here (let's ignore the part about posting dates the way Spike ignores ritual).

If you want to participate in another way, please leave feedback for our talented fan creators. :)

This three-day School Hard party will take place on Livejournal, Dreamwidth, AND tumblr. You can post on any or all of these places as you prefer. During the event, I will crosspost links on all three Seasonal Spuffy blogs, so it'll be possible to follow all the Spuffy action via any of them: here on DW, on LJ, or on tumblr (though you may have to go elsewhere to read/view the actual content). I will link to Dreamwidth posts from tumblr and Livejournal when I can, but I'll give you at least an half hour first in case you want to repost or link them yourself.

TO PARTICIPATE ON DREAMWIDTH, simply post to this community. I have experimentally ~~smashed~~ removed entry moderation, so you won't have to wait for the post to be approved. In turn, I made it so you do have to join the community first. I hope that won't be a difficulty.
