Buffy tries to close Spike out, but she always finds herself back in the dark with him while in return she shows him the light.
This is also the second time I've mashed up BtVS to a song by Great Northern (epic band is epic)

2011-04-17 01:50 (UTC)This is just... essential. It is so essential, I can't explain how wonderful this is. Thank you. I love you. Vids from you always and forever.
I was watching this and I could feel Buffy. Even before I really understood the narrative. It's just so her and I love her and I can tell you love her and the way you show how she sees Spike...

2011-04-17 02:03 (UTC)I was really apprehensive about this one, because it's so easy to vid Spike POV and take it to that 'unrequited love' basic level, but there are so many more levels with both of them.
...if that makes sense?
It's hard to portray a Buffy POV because when it comes to Spike, it's kind of this internal struggle that happens so subtly on screen that you can't just point your finger at one thing, hence the voice overs I used.
But her love for him is there, and it's deep, but it's quiet, not so in your face, and this song with the buildup and the slow down and the slow melodies followed by loud unexpected drums really parallels how Buffy feels about Spike in my opinion, a lot of the time it's in the background and it's quietness and lingering looks, and other times it's this unexpected burst of emotion she can't hold in anymore.
wow. when I rant I really rant :) Hopefully that made sense :P
thank you!

2011-04-17 02:10 (UTC)Okay, yeah, just keep talking. You're making me want to collapse into this puddle of tears, sobbing, "They have a beautiful love! A miraculous love!"
Oh Buffy. ♥

2011-04-17 02:01 (UTC)This is beautiful. I love everything about it. But I might love the part with the voiceover most of all. That is just beautiful. And I wish I could say how much I love the part where Spike defends Buffy (and subsequently beats up Faith), but there are no words. I love it because it's him defending her like she's been defending him that whole season. So, for me, it shows how deep their understanding of each other is. And you included it!
Beautiful. ♥

2011-04-17 02:16 (UTC)AND THE LIGHTING
SHE GOES INTO THE DARK TO BE WITH HIM, THEN WHEN SHE MUST RETURN TO THE LIGHT, HE FOLLOWS
*INCOHERENT FLAILING*

I LOVE IT TOO. And Faith doesn't even really deserve it, but I love what it shows about Spike. I've written fic in my head where he tears into Giles even harder and just really twists the knife.
The difference to me between what the Scoobies did and what Spike does, is that Spike would've told Buffy off to her face, but he never would've let her walk off alone where she didn't have anyone guarding her back. I think Spike understands how close she is to death every second, every day, and how close she comes to falling in battle. I think that's why he's so focused on watching her back.

2011-04-17 02:08 (UTC)Ok I'm starting at the end of your posts and working my way back. So. Dessert first.
FAVORITE VID. The cacophany of voices arguing whether or not these hands should clasp - and they find each other and hold, heedless of the noise. Finding those moments of connection. GAH. So perfect.
I love you, Boo. Fantastic, beautiful vision of Buffy and Spike.

2011-04-17 03:56 (UTC)There's definitely something to be said for the use of instrumental music for a Spike/Buffy vid, because the piano section is lovely, and the voiceovers give the sense of conflicted feelings Buffy has for Spike. I adored that cloud of voiceovers!
Then there's the use of black and white to connect the action to the music, and the melancholy music itself. You've totally turned me on to Great Northern!
Then there's the incoherent babbling portion of this comment, where I just want to bask in the relationship as you portrayed it. And the middle part! Never disregard the middle part, where Buffy's thinking through season 6 and relating it to season 7 and how their relationship has changed!!! This is where I could just get CAPSLOCKY with the joy of this vid! It's not exactly a happy vid, because Buffy doesn't ever have a chance to allow herself to be happy, but it gives me warm, snuggly feelings to see her and Spike defending each other so hard and relating to each other on such a high level! It's the same sense of relating to one and other on a deeper level that made issue #40 of the comic so enjoyable - they get each other so well, and they know exactly what the other needs to hear. And you show that here!

2011-04-17 04:06 (UTC)WOW!! THIS IS PROBABLY THE BEST THING ANYONE HAS EVER SAID ABOUT ONE OF MY VIDEOS! NO JOKE
I almost wrote a much longer description for this video going into detail why I felt the music itself is so Buffy perspective, even though there aren't many lyrics in the song itself, but I really wanted the video to speak for itself and I'm really glad it did.
thank you so much for this comment, you've made my night! ♥

*rubs hands together evily*
my goal in life is to have every single Spuffy shipper become Great Northern/Spuffy shippers :D

YES YES YES!
I always try to delve in deep when making a Spike/Buffy video, I try not to make it about just one emotion, I can make a happy vid, cause they have plenty happy/funny moments, but I just can't relate that emotion to them without including the pain/hurt/love/understanding that comes with the rest of their relationship.

2011-04-17 04:31 (UTC)The voicesovers are just so spectacular. I have to say. But the brilliance of that moment is the voices pushing, pushing, pushing at Buffy to pull away from Spike and then the lyrics follow:
The door is locked now. No one else can see.
Because their love is private. Buffy's dark place. It's only for them. For her and Spike.
Every time I listen to those lyrics right after the voiceover, it brings tears to my eyes. That is so so so Buffy.

OMG YAY! THOSE WERE THE LYRICS! The lyrics that got me into her head, the lyrics that let her breathe again.

2011-04-17 21:41 (UTC)I love the choice of scenes, moments, big ones and the small. And the voice-over! I'm not usually the fan of voice-overs in fanvids, they tend to make me lose the rhythm of the music, but you do them masterfully, choosing just the right places to put them and just the perfect words.
Thank you! I knew your day was worth waiting for :)

2011-04-18 01:08 (UTC)when people telling me they love a vid of mine becomes a cliché thing to say, my heart has just soared the galaxy :)
it's always challenging to me when clips are out of chronological order
It used to be beyond challenging for me to vid out of chronological order, but I had to stop because there were too many moments that fit/paralleled each other and they can't be ignored! lol
I'm glad I didn't disappoint on my day!
Thank you!
