A/N: Four angsty haiku from the final scenes of "Tabula Rasa." Technically, these are probably more, um, "Spuffku" than "Spaiku."

The farce is over.
No relief from the stark truth:
everyone leaves her.


II.
Numb with misery,
she spurns his silent offer.
Fine--he's had enough.


III.
Stricken, she jumps up,
goes after him, determined
to make someone stay.


IV.
Ravenous kisses:
the spell may be broken, but
they’re no less bewitched.

Nice! These have prodded my brain a little on a one-shot I was working on for that scene. I really like the idea that Buffy goes after Spike because everyone else leaves and she wants someone to stay, even if it's him.

I'd love to read it; this scene just cries out for FITB. beanbeans wrote a lovely drabble in her fic journal not too long ago about the kiss that prodded me (heh-heh, I said it again!) to think about how they get to the kiss.

Thank you! I was hoping that there might be some kind of continuity between them in a Willow's-doing-that-wacky-magic-again/magic-has-consequences kinda way, but I think that my reach exceeded my grasp in terms of doing the whole episode. Glad that it worked for you.

Lord help me, I tried to answer in kind, but I've been responding to f/b for two hours, and the well is dry. I got nothin! (Not that I'm complaining in the slightest. You've got to sign up for the next round--the queen-for-a-day vibe is very uplifting.)

III. is the emotional center of that entire scene during the "Goodbye to You" song, isn't it? Of the entire episode, really. "Determined to make someone stay" --yes, that's exactly it. Poor Buffy. :(

Bewitched is a perfect word choice there in IV--they were indeed bewitched--as were we, watching them kiss so desperately under those stairs.

Buffy is a very sad girl. :( The end of this ep really gets to me; she's just so miserable and lost. You capture her desperation perfectly in "Hold On," and that drabble really informed my perspective on these.

Those haiku are addictive little things, aren't they? I don't write anything else, but I've had a lot of fun working on the Spaiku over the past few months.
