It's weird, because I think about this stuff way too much (a common issue among our people) and after I've thought about a possible approach to a story for long enough, it seems really obvious. I think people are going to read the summary and say, "Well, of course! Duh!" Also, I like to stick fairly close to canon, so in this case I ended up with an odd mix of "what if" and "fill in the blank". I realize the ending is a bit of a surprise, but it seemed utterly plausible to me, given the history between Buffy & Faith, Buffy's protectiveness, and Spike's perceptiveness. So to hear that it comes across as original is very flattering and unexpected.
