Yeah. *hangs head* I realize that this chapter was getting into Marty Stu territory, what with Spike recognizing that something was up with the switcheroo and rescuing the damsel from the Council goons. I had to stop myself before he turned into some kind of, you should excuse the expression, bloody hero. Tsk. So, taking a page out of the book o'Joss: sudden death.

I actually was headed there all along. I wanted to show what it would be like for Buffy to face (literally) her violence in a very direct way. But I only got through the set-up! Plus, it's from Spike's POV, and he couldn't care less about Buffy's tragically successful follow-through of her earlier attempt on Faith's life circa Graduation. Though it might be interesting to see if he gains any insight by spending time with someone who is really shaken by her crimes. Sequel, you say?
