Before I get into your comments, can I just ask if you think this story qualifies as Gen? I'm guessing there's too much "I think she's cute" for it to be a slam-dunk, but not enough actual relationshipiness for it to be Het. Fie on all these outdated labels! I'm just trying to tell a story, here!
Anyway. I hope I didn't upset you with my out-of-the-blue twist. I swear, I was heading there all along, but I kept getting distracted by the pretty vampire — who has practically nothing to do with the actual tragedy of the ending. Oops?
Yes, I was aiming for a better place for both Joyce and Spike in Season 4. Of course, in Jossverse fashion, getting what you want might lead to some awful outcome. Though, having Buffy in Faith's body doesn't seem so awful or unlikely to me (blame Dollhouse), although I dearly love Faith and hate to see her gone. (She lives on in full, oh-so-kissable lips and all — but I love her, um, soul. Really.)
I notice that you do quote a few shippy parts. I'm honored that you would put my UST up there in the 2010 pantheon!
