:D I think this it's definitely true of Buffy's mission in general that she isn't so zealous that she loses sight of people as people, and when she comes across groups that are actually like that (like Holtz here and the Knights of Byzantium) she knows exactly what the difference between them is; the only problem is that her rhetoric doesn't quite follow... It's the reason why I think she is perfectly capable of caring for and loving Spike without a soul (because she sees him as a person), but nevertheless feels really bad about it, because she never consciously deconstructs the language she uses to think about these things. If she could spend some time in college or do something that encouraged a bit more critical thinking...
