I envision Lorne doing his Liberace voice for this, especially for the "better dimensions" part. However, I'm thinking now that I missed a chance to explicitly put in something about how not all unions are so recognized. I wrote this whole meta-fic on marriage, and now realize that even with talking about the tax/travel-docs/health insurance aspect of it all, I wasn't clear about how that's why it's important to make it a non-discriminatory institution. But, I'm unwilling to go pedantic, so I'll have to figure out an amusing way to fit that idea in someplace else. But enough about the politics, on to the comedy!
Heh, the little tease about the engagement party (three weeks ago) was actually my tricksy way to indicate that the whole wedding had been thrown together on very short notice. Which was maybe already obvious. ;-)
Yes, having Harmony come to the rescue was a way for Buffy to show some character growth, plus I just love goofing around with Harmony, which I hardly ever do. Also, Spike and Dawn pranking Angel is a way to show lack of character growth with them. Heh. MiAmor was laughing out loud at the beginning of the prank, but silent toward the end. "Not funny?" I asked. "I feel kinda sorry for the stupid-haired bastard," he replied. (I paraphrase.) Mission accomplished!
The cake scene was inspired by last year's nuptials of BFFC. The cakes(s) were absolutely gorgeous, and studded with little chocolate seashells, but there was nobody to oversee the cutting and distribution of the "guest" pieces. It turned into a terrifying free-for-all. But: delicious!
Thanks for your kind words, and for picking out so many little touches. They (and I) appreciate when people take notice.
