I'm glad you liked it. And yeah, until I started this, I hadn't realized how much magic there was. The Initiative presence made it seem all about the technology, on the surface. Joss might be thinking magic = woman!energy / technology = man!energy. During the defeat of Adam, the Buffy/Giles/Willow/Xander composite says "You can't begin to grasp the source of our power," which is a very transparent Joss-type nod to female power.
*ahem* I am now backing slowly away from the thesis topic. It might bite!
