I actually came at this from Spike's POV first, since he must have more going on than we ever see. But his Season 4 life was getting me down, because he was so isolated. When I switched over to Buffy, it immediately got more fun, if not more funny. ('Cos what's funnier than someone else's tragedy?) But this way, I got to write Willow, Giles, and ¡yay again! Joyce! Even a little Xander, though he got short shrift. And, yeah, when I realized I could get Joyce in there, with some mom truths, it clinched it. Go moms!
