Well, in this case, the baby was literally created out of their feelings for one another. The tragic part is that, by the time the baby's born, Buffy and Spike's feelings have done a 180.
Part of my inspiration was the Whedonverse itself – we didn't see any happy pregnancies on Angel, which made me wonder exactly how badly a Spuffy pregnancy could go!
