It always struck me that even angsty baby fics end happily, when there are so, so many opportunities to beat the characters bloody. Buffy rarely plans to get pregnant, but she must keep the baby out of necessity, so you get Buffy declaring that abortion's disgusting or that she wants to make life for once or she's keeping the baby for Spike's sake. But I mean, if an undead guy impregnated me, I would freak out long before the baby was born with fangs. So I decided to write a fic where Buffy freaks. :-)
