This is just brilliant. Fascinating concept, beautifully executed. Perfect characterization. Perfect Buffy voice. The conversation between Buffy and Spike following her “How does it feel?” is such an insightful discussion of what the soul is and isn't, what the soul means and doesn't mean, all the complexities and ambiguities of it - and all the complexities and ambiguities of Buffy's and Spike's relationship. I've re-read this story several times, and every time I re-read it I'm even more impressed.
This story is just EXCELLENT. Psychologically, philosophically, in every way. It's just superb. Well done.
