Love! Lovelovelovelovelove! I have a thing for minor character fic, anyway, but to have something this meaty is a substantial treat!

Molly's musings on American vs. Revello vs. English was terrific, and a sneaky way to hook your fellow writers. Clever girl.

Vi hurries back inside, torn between embarrassment at being caught, fear at the reminder of how badly the First hurt the vampire, and pleasure that Buffy knows her name.

Completely understandable, Vi.

Because something must have been lost in translation: Dawn could not have said that the vampire has a soul.

Chao-Ahn's attempt to make any kind of connection is (nearly) the saddest thing here. Her gratefulness to Dawn, Buffy's attempts to communicate, Spike silent acceptance: this is all she gets out of her short trip to Gold Mountain. Urgh.

“The girl didn’t mean any harm, Slayer. Just curious.”

Hoo boy! That's putting the best possible complexion on things, Spikey! Amanda was so completely without boundaries here, and so full of amazingly simplistic gothic horror shite, plus clueless about her own power with the crossbow, that I wonder if she didn't sort of hope (cluelessly) for a glorious death in the Hellmouth.

You do know that three of your chosen potentials don't make it, right? Of course you do.

I love the way Rona' complete misunderstanding of Buffy is contrasted against Kennedy's skewed understanding which then segues into Faith's sudden extreme clarity on the subject of Buffy.

Oh Faith. I love her in Season 7. So much. You've possibly added to my love, here.

“I’m telling you, B. You don’t let him know how you feel, you’re going to regret it. Because at this point, I think he’s the only one who doesn’t know.”

And that's the whole point of this story, succinctly put. A heart breaker.
