I can't help but think that everything does ripple out from her history with Angel/Angelus and her early black/white view of her Slayer world view. I have always seen the history of Buffy with Angel/Angelus and her early Slayer world view as the "drop point" for all her relationship failures - none being more tragic than the Buffy-Spike.
