I read this commentary on School Hard (http://www.soulfulspike.com/indexholder.htm) a week or two ago - until then, I hadn't noticed the references to Buffy being on her period in the episode. I couldn't help but give "the blood of a nice, ripe... Slayer" a shout-out. ;)
