Loved it. Once I got in the rhythm I thoroughly enjoyed this story, and it was such a surprise to find this completely new approach: after all these fanfic years, it's a treat. I was thinking, Spike is just exactly Spike, always doing things his way but always swept away by the circumstances (unlike Angel who's forever in control of the big picture), and always deeply in love in spite of his wishes; I was not so convinced by Buffy, but then I saw that she was doing her thing as well--with nothing to recommend her for any sort of real life job and being on call for her Slayer duties, she's grimly determined to make use of whatever is thrown her way to "get it done", even if it means self-annulment: pure Buffy.
