It sounds like it could be, because the story, I think, does put Buffy's and Spike's characters and personal issues in a very central role. In fact, it throws both of them into an utter crucible by the end, in which self-knowledge becomes pivotal to Buffy's future.
As regards friending, friend away! I'll post the remaining 290,000 or so words at my LJ this fall, doing so in installments over the course of 6 weeks or so. The novel is already done; it's just waiting for a final polish which I'll give it this summer.
