A Spuffy fic inspired by a Brad Paisley song? This pleases me more than is strictly reasonable. Mostly, I'm just impressed that you pulled it off. ;)
Really nice--you made the premise very believable--the details are great. And Buffy's "voice" seemed just right to me.
I must admit that I'm usually not a fan of "Buffy realizes what a bitch she was to poor helpless Spike who never did anything wrong" fics, but this is strictly from Buffy's POV in the aftermath of losing him, and she did make mistakes, and, knowing Buffy and her need to take responsibility for just about everything, I can totally buy that she would blame herself for everything, even actions that were actually pretty reasonable considering what knowledge she had at the time and the restrictions of her worldview. Plus, as I said, she did make a bunch of mistakes when it came to Spike (even if he did, too), and I think losing him in such a way would make her face those. So within the context for this story, her reactions and explanations are pretty in character.
All that to say...it works for me. ;) Yes, this ridiculously long review means that I liked it. ;)
I've been reading a lot of meta today, you'll have to forgive me.
Oh! Also, I liked the ambiguity of the ending. A lot.
