An awkward silence fell, and Buffy knew that things wouldn’t be the same again. She would never share the same closeness with her friends, never feel quite as secure, never quite lose that edge of apathy that haunted her, knowing what waited for her after death.
I liked this, because it was borne out in canon, as well... when she didn't date Spike openly. In this paragraph, at first it sounds like the distance is due to her choosing Spike over them, but then it becomes clear it's really about being resurrected. It's nice to see Buffy acknowledge her loss, and their betrayal, to herself and to her friends, but still find a way to live with it.
