Poetry: Dance of Madness
Title Dance of Madness
Rating and warnings G, but angsty
Word count 143
Medium Poetry
Setting early S7
Whirling figures dance
Through his mind
This one and that one
Spinning like tops
Never fixed
Constantly moving
Accusing, reproving
Victims
He remembers now
Gory, bloody endings
Playing with food
Mother would be so
Disappointed
Whirl, whirl, whirl...
Through his mind,
Confused, haunted
Nightmare visions
Populated by victims
Punctuated by death
Death
Death
Always death
Dark and bitter
Ashes in his mouth
Dryer than the cigarettes he
Smokes inhales deep into
Lungs no longer functioning
Whirling figures again
A kalidescope of images
Ever changing, never staying
Same... sane... never... ever...
And then
A light
A glow
A shimmer of gold
She dances into view
Memory and dream
Beauty and killer
Slayer
Bold, brash
Dancing, whirling
Focus...
Focus...
Focus...
Glimpse of sanity
Then gone as she
Whirls away
In a flurry of blows and
Recriminations
Dancing another dance
To a tune
He cannot hear.

Disappointed
Oh, I loved this line, as it made me think, "Which mother?" Either way, one will be disappointed.
I love that she is his light in the darkness, a blazing torch off in the confused distance. Nice image.
Well done, m'dear! Thanks for these!

I'm normally ambivalent about poetry, but this is incredibly moving and vivid.
