The reason I'm so thrilled is that the last time I kissed a male was over forty years ago. So, when I wrote the description of this kiss, I didn't write from personal experience, or even any clear memory of what it would be like to kiss a male. Instead, I wrote from pure imagination, closing my eyes and trying to answer questions: what do I feel against my lips? what do I smell? what do I hear? how do these sensations affect my emotions?
Of course, imagining things outside one's personal experience is basic to writing fiction and is hardly something unusual. Still, it's very satisfying to hear that the end result rings true. : )
