What a fascinating recast of late S5, early S6! I find the idea that Buffy is willing to sacrifice her memories for Spike's sake so moving, and so believable. And as pin_btvs points out, there's nothing that says Buffy can't fall in love with him all over again.
Also, I really admire your writing skills. The bedroom scenes are tender, funny, heartbreaking, and incredibly hot -- all with so few words! I'm in awe. But the heart of the piece, for me, is the scene after Spike is dusted. It's just so emotionally powerful, the way Buffy isn't even fully aware that she is griefstricken even as her body is expressing it so vividly. That was masterful, and very believably Buffy.
Anyway, thanks for a great Seasonal Spuffy offering. I'm off to try and find more of your fic...
