It seems a slightly odd thing to say about a post-apocalyptic story, but this was lovely. gorgeous writing, and very visceral details. You get into a newly-human and very ill Spike's head beautifully.
“I just... The world kind of sucks, you know? We’re talking suckage on a global apocalyptic scale, and I don’t know what to do.” She swallowed. “But I can’t lose you, too, again, not without...” She gave him a tiny smile with a ghost of her old perkiness. “So, be my guy?”
“God, yes.”

I also have much love for the scene with Xander and Spike trying to feel their way to a non-adversarial relationship.
